Switzerland
We went to Switzerland in September the week of Labor Day. Arrived in Zurich in the morning and booked it straight to Zermatt to take advantage of the perfect weather. We bought the 3 day Swiss Travel Pass from HappyRail and made good use of it. Calculate the full price ticket prices for your planned itinerary on sbb.ch to see if the Swiss travel pass or the half fare card saves you more money. Train tickets (along with everything else in Switzerland) are pretty expensive but were super worth it. Travelling through the alps was so scenic throughout our trip. I think the Interlaken Luzern Express was my favorite though.
Our crazy plan was to visit Zermatt, Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, Luzern, and Zurich in 3-4 days. For the most part, there was enough time to walk around the small towns but we definitely need to go back and soak in the beautiful country more. Zermatt was our favorite with the many majestic views of the Matterhorn. Interlaken was a bit more touristy than we'd like but would make a great home base to get into the mountains.
